Shiraz Wajih

Dr Shiraz Wajih is an Ecologist by training and is the President of Gorakhpur Environmental Action Group. He has been associated with GEAG since its inception in 1975. He was also an Associate Professor in University College of Gorakhpur University.

Dr Wajih has directed several development projects since 40 years on Sustainable Livelihoods, Natural Resource Management, Water-Sanitation, Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Change Adaptation and Livelihood Resilience in collaboration with agencies - UNICEF, UNDP, Oxfam, Govt of India/UP, IDRC, DfID, CDKN, The Rockefeller Foundation etc. His specific interest areas are Participatory Planning, Vulnerability Analysis, Resilience Strategies, Policy influencing, Village Micro-planning, Action Research and Documentation. He has been part of various Committees/Task Forces in Govt of India and Uttar Pradesh on Environment & Climate Change, Agriculture & Disaster Management and Board Member of national & international agencies. He has been the recipient of several awards like Global 500 (UNEP), LightHouse Award (UNFCCC).
