Academic Lecturer | Landscape Architect
Sandeep Balagangadharan Menon is a landscape architect with sixteen years of experience in practicing landscape architecture and ecological design. He is currently based in Manchester, UK as a Lecturer at the Department of Landscape Architecture, Manchester School of Architecture (MSA).
He is also a member of the Editorial Advisory Panel of LANDSCAPE, the official Journal of the Landscape Institute, UK and a core member at the Education Board Steering Committee of the Indian Society of landscape Architects(ISOLA), India.
He holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Bachelor of Architecture Degree from the School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi, an Institution of National Importance under the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
He was an Assistant Professor and the Undergraduate Program Coordinator at the Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture and Environmental Studies (KRVIA), University of Mumbai. India. Prior to moving to Mumbai, he was the Design Director at Integral Designs International Studio Pvt Ltd, New Delhi. He has worked on landscape design and masterplanning projects of varying scales in various bio-geographies. His work often addresses the ideas of natural processes, local ecology and native planting.
He was also involved in the European Union Erasmus Plus research project for ‘Building Resilient Communities’ (BReUCom) and the World Resources Institute (WRI) initiated Research on Humanising Urban Mobility in Mumbai. His interests range from ecological urbanism, landscape design detailing, sustainable urban water management, planting design, planning for ecological corridors and wetland systems in contested urban areas.
