ODI Global is an independent and trusted think tank, with more than 220 staff, including researchers, communicators and specialist support staff: established in 1960, ODI Global is non-partisan, non-profit and evidence-driven. ODI Global exists to have real impact for those who need it most. This is at the centre of our thinking about what to do, where to go and how we measure our success.
As a registered charity, ODI Global is supported by grants and donations from foundations, non-governmental organisations, the private sector, governments, multilateral agencies and academia. The full list of funders can also be found on our funding page.
Our mission
ODI Global is more than a think tank. We are a force for positive change. We lead thinking and agendas to build a more resilient, just and equitable future for all. We work to inspire people to act on injustice and inequality. Through research, convening and influencing, we turn bold ideas, evidence and broad expertise into actionable advice to confront global challenges.
Our work
As well as several core research programmes, we also host a number of flagship projects and run the ODI Fellowship Scheme. Read more in our Annual report.
ODI Global’s work on adaptation:
Some of our key areas of work on adaptation include:
- Building resilience to climate shocks in Small Island Developing States and complex and conflict settings.
- Adopting a transboundary view of climate risk and build momentum in addressing the global adaptation challenge by moving towards enhanced global cooperation, to enable genuine global resilience. See our project Adaptation Without Borders
- Exploring how to improve access to climate finance for adaptation, and design, implement, monitor and evaluate the conservation and restoration of ecosystems, in ways that enhance understanding of how ecosystem-based adaptation to climate change can be linked effectively across geographic scales, from the local to the regional level, to create stronger solutions.
